Road Readers

Books to the homebound

The Farmington Public Library Outreach Program, Road Readers will provide free home delivery of library materials within the Farmington city limits to the Homebound.

Road Readers will serve those individuals in the City of Farmington who, due to institutionalization, physical or health limitations, cannot be served by the public library. The library staff and volunteers will work to develop a personalized service based on knowledge of the patrons' needs and interests. Library materials will serve to provide personal enjoyment and entertainment, provide a source of contact with the outside world, and promote social interaction.

Materials available include regular library holdings, large type editions of popular fiction and non-fiction materials, and books on tape. The library does not provide tape players. Road Readers patrons may select specific titles, favorite authors, book preferences, and type of materials.

Individuals wishing to receive Road Reader service must contact the library and submit the appropriate information. Book selections will be provided by the library staff. Library materials circulate for four weeks so patron deliveries can be rotated throughout the four week cycle.
