Computer Rules
By logging on to a library computer, you agree to follow the library's computer rules and policies. Copies are posted in the computer area and are available at any service desk.
If you do not log in on the assigned computer within 10 minutes of your reserved session, your reservation will be cancelled and the reservation system blocks you from making another reservation for the same day.
The Internet Use Policy allows one 30-minute session per day in the Farmington Public Library system. If the reservation system determines there are adequate computers available, you may be granted additional time, up to the maximum of one hour.
Parents or guardians, NOT the library or its staff, are responsible for Internet information selected and/or accessed by their children. The Farmington Public Library cannot protect you from materials you may find offensive.
By logging on to a Library computer, you forfeit your right to privacy. Anything you view is subject to scrutiny by library staff and/or law enforcement agencies. Video surveillance cameras are used in the public computer area.
Nudity and pornographic images shall not be accessed and sexually explicit messages and sexually explicit chat shall not be used. Profanity shall not be used in communicating. You are responsible for all language and graphics displayed on your monitor. If these standards are not followed you will be banned from using the Library's computers, and you may be prosecuted in accordance with City ordinances and State and Federal statutes concerning pornography and harassment.
Printing costs 10 cents per page, and may be picked up at the service desk in the rotunda. Follow the printing instructions that appear on screen, or ask for assistance.
Failure to follow these rules, the Library's Internet Use Policy and Rules of Conduct will result in loss of library privileges and/or criminal prosecution or other legal action. Computer Rules ( 12-13-02)
