Youth Storytellers Wanted!

Do you have a youth storyteller at your school?  Youth Storytellers can start to prepare a 3 to 5 minute folk tale, fairy tale, tall tale, myth, legend, ghost story or cowboy poetry or personal story that they enjoy telling to prepare for auditions in May for the Four Corners Storytelling Festival. Story performance can include a musical instrument if they are singing a song/story, but no props are allowed for storytelling. Monologues, stand-up comedy, literary recitations, dramatic readings and other types of acting are not part of the typical storytelling venue.

How can you be one?

Youth Storytellers sign an agreement (sample word document) to practice their story during the summer for the Four Corners Storytelling Festival. Youth Storytellers participate in workshops throughout the summer and record their story at KSJE 90.9FM Radio for September and October listening. Their story can also be downloaded to your MP3.

If you are interested in becoming a youth storyteller, here is information on the Audition Form for Youth Storytelling and Judging Criteria.
