Summertime, and the livin’ is…busy! With gardens, camping, vacation, sports, hiking, travel, lying in the backyard shade – and showing up on the job – summer can feel like anything but easy. Well, here’s where the library offers a break in all that busy-ness: the Adult Summer Reading program.

Sure, summer reading has lots to do for kids, but we grownups can take advantage of the library’s books, audio CDs and downloadable titles and indulge ourselves for a few weeks. This summer’s theme is “Bee Creative @ Your Library”. That’s our way to help you through the thousands of possibilities that await you.

These are just a few of the ten reading categories that you can use to pick books for your summer enjoyment. The categories are broad suggestions, nudges, nods to help you find titles you might otherwise overlook. The folks at the Reference Desk can always help you out.

It all starts on May 1 that’s when you can register online, at www.infoway.org, using your library card number and PIN.

Once you’ve registered, pick up your ticket book at the Reference Desk – each of the ten tickets describes the type of book to read.

Pollinate your mind with at least six good reads! From May 25 until August 1, log the titles you’ve read on the computer, and you’ll earn a summer reading t-shirt.

There’s more: as you complete each bee stage, fill in the reverse side of each ticket to enter the final drawing – the more you read, the better your chances of winning!

Wait, we’re not done! Answer a “buzz around your library” trivia question each week to enter the weekly prize drawing. Entry forms will be available at the library, and a drawing will be held every Monday during the program.

Pick up a Summer Reading brochure at the library, get registered here, or just ask at the Reference Desk. Summer Reading – it’s not kid stuff!
