Shiprock Summer Reading

Summer reading program statistics for 2014

The research is clear that children who don't read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect. Third and fourth grade students most at risk and studies show that summer reading helps to improve comprehension, vocabulary, and proficiency enabling students to return to school in the fall with greater retained skills. Summer reading is sponsored by the Farmington Public Library Foundation.
