Law Enforcement Recognition

Dawn Harris, YIA coordinator, introduced the Farmington Police Department and the Sheriff's Department to present them with a MADD "HERO" pin for their DWI work in San Juan County and support of Youth in Action to over 250 participants. After the program everyone visited with local heroes at the ice cream party.

The Nyte Before Recruiting Party

The Nyte Before concert hosted by MTAC at the Farmington Public Library to recruit Youth in Action Volunteers was recognized on the front page of the Farmington Daily Times! The teen event included free ice cream cake, games and music from 6 to 8pm.

National Service Learning Conference

Youth In Action members Anna Doherty and Billy Tsabetsaye presented at the National Service-Learning Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico and presented volunteer ideas they use in San Juan County for the prevention of underage drinking.   Anna introduced herself in Spanish to the participants and Billy in Navajo sharing some of the history of the culture and the statistics of underage drinking in San Juan County.
